An incredible story experienced in the United States of America by the cat Galena, reported missing from her human family and found six days later inside a return package Amazon who had traveled hundreds of kilometers: despite the long period without food or water, the cat survived and is well, and was able to return home.
It all began on April 10 in Lehi, a town in Utah which is located about fifty kilometers south of the great salt lake. Suddenly Carrie Stephens Clark realizes that her beloved cat Galena she’s disappeared. Extremely scared, the woman begins to search desperately for her, turning the house upside down and then also asking for help on social networks. “We searched every corner of our home, our neighborhood, the Jordan River Trail and the neighborhoods surrounding us for a week”said the woman above Facebook. “We put flyers everywhere, clogged social media, but nothing…I was beyond devastated! Galena is a huge emotional support for me”.
When all hope of finding the cat was lost, an unexpected phone call arrived. Seven days after her disappearance, on April 17, Carrie receives a call from a veterinarian in California: Galena’s microchip had been scanned more than a thousand kilometers away, near the city of Riverside. “It had slipped inside one of our Amazon return packages without us realizing it”explains the woman.“It was shipped to a return center in California and was trapped in one box inside a trailer for 6 days.”
Galena was found by Brandy Hunteran Amazon employee, inside a large box that contained the five pairs of work boots returned by Carrie and her husband. “She was absolutely terrified and certainly distressed”the girl explained to Use Today.“It hurt to see this beautiful kitten petrified and curled up in the corner of our training room.”. The next day, Brandy takes the cat to the vet and, despite everything, everything seems to be fine. “There was nothing physically wrong with him… nothing broken and his temperature was normal.”the employee wrote on social media. “We tried to get her to eat and drink, but it was just too much scared“.
A few days after the good news, the kitten’s family had been found, and the story behind that discovery made sense, even though it was an absurd story. Carrie and her husband face the long journey to pick her up and the moment of reunion is emotional.“That’s when the magic happened… her owners arrived and joined us in the room! This moment was absolutely amazing”Brandy recalls.
“Galena immediately stopped shaking and relaxed as soon as I hugged her again”says Carrie instead. “Despite being thinner and slightly dehydrated, her blood tests were completely normal and she was completely unharmed!”.
The woman also launched an appeal to reiterate once again the importance of equipping microchip pets, a tool that proved fundamental in reuniting with her beloved cat.
