Almost two years have passed since the life of Marta Perez19 year old from Alicante (Spain), It’s changed. On September 28, 2022, you drank a protein shake which caused you to go into anaphylactic shock which culminated in a coma. What triggered the reaction was the pistachio contained in the drink, a dried fruit to which she is strongly allergic. Today, almost two years later, her life is still just a thread away.
The sickness after the smoothie
The girl’s allergic reaction was almost immediate and her condition worsened rapidly. Marta, treated in a local health center, suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest which led to her coma. She was subsequently transferred to the Virgen de los Lirios hospital in Alcoy and subsequently transferred to a private clinic in Valencia where she is undergoing neurorehabilitation treatment. The parents still hope to get Marta back and are evaluating new therapeutic alternatives, reports La Vanguardia. The family has opened a fundraiser through the website www.ayudamarta.com to raise the 35 thousand euros needed for the new treatment.
