Those arrested in Cairo investigated, ‘terrorism among the charges’ – Breaking news

Some of the activists arrested yesterday afternoon in Cairo during a demonstration in front of the local UN headquarters to stop attacks on women in Gaza and Sudan should be questioned this morning at the prosecutor’s office to start investigations. Among them also two people with dual Italian citizenship, Lina Ali and Mohammed Farag. Lawyer Khaled Ali reports this in a post on Facebook, specifying that other lawyers support him in this case. “Yesterday’s arrested people exercise different professions, among them there are journalists, lawyers, students and citizens. And even people who were walking down the street by chance at the time of the demonstration. We have 18 names: Rasha Azab, Iman Auf, Hadir Al Mahdawi, Youssef Shaaban, Mohammed Farag, Mahienour El Masry, Maï Mahdi, Israa Youssef, Asmaa Naeem, Lina Ali, Farida Al-Hafni, Ragia Imran, Lubna Darwish, Arwa Marei, Yara Al-Wardani, Omar Hossam Mohamed Hosny, Yousra Al-Kalisli, Ruqaya Siraj Al-Din”, adds the lawyer.

An investigation file, no. 1567/2024, has been opened on those arrested. This was reported by the party’s lawyers and confirmed by the Egyptian civil rights associations. The charges include membership of a terrorist group and participation in an unauthorized gathering. According to the Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms (ECRF), the two activists with Italian citizenship Mohammed Farag and Lina Ali are among those under investigation.
