Revenge continues in the official trailer for the second season of Hit-Monkeythe animated series that follows a fearsome macaque warrior who uses his skills to fight Tokyo’s crime syndicate led by a ghostly mentor. In the United States, the new episodes debut July 15 in streaming on Hulu, while in Italy you will see them soon on Disney+ where the first season is already available.

Hit-Monkey: Season 2 Spoilers

Co-created and produced by Josh Gordon e Will Speck, Hit-Monkey is based on the Marvel comic book character of the same name created by Daniel Way (script) and Dalibor Talajić (art), first published in 2010. However, the series in this second season has lost the word “Marvel” in the title because it has become the responsibility of 20th Television Animation. The trailer anticipates that the action will move from Tokyo to New York where Monkey will come to terms with his new status as a famous “killer of killers” and Bryce will try to repair the damage suffered when he was alive.

“We always knew we wanted to set Season 2 in New York City,” Gordon explained to Marvel.com. “Like Tokyo, it’s layered, gritty, and cinematic. But it also allowed us to delve into Bryce’s past and drag Monkey deeper into the messiness of the human world. It’s been the setting for so many Marvel stories in the past, but we wanted to show a more grounded version of the city. Still moody and complex, but more like the city we know,” he added.

The voice cast and new characters

The protagonists return to voice the new episodes Fred Tatasciore (Star Trek: Lower Decks), Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso), George Takei (Star Trek) e Olivia Munn (The Newsroom) but, for the occasion, some new key characters from Bryce’s past were also introduced, voiced by other well-known stars. Among these are Bryce’s daughter, Iris, voiced by Cristin Miliotiand Bryce’s sleazy ex-agent, Eunice, voiced by Leslie Jones. “We’ve dug deeper into Monkey’s past, which ultimately brings him to the breaking point and repays a lot of his deepest issues from season one,” Will Speck explained. “And there are also some new villains and allies this season that you’ll only discover by watching the series,” he teased.
