The global phenomenon is back: The Chosen, the fourth season is coming (of seven planned) with all new episodes before the summer. It is the first TV series dedicated to the life of Jesus of Nazareth from his thirties to the crucifixion. A one of a kind series. An innovative historical drama set against the backdrop of Roman oppression in first-century Israel. An independent production written, directed and produced by Dallas Jenkins, The Chosen is distributed globally by Lionsgate.

It is an extraordinary project that started from the bottom in the United States (financed through crowdfunding) and launched in 2019 for free on the web, which has so far achieved record numbers: over 200 million viewers, more than 770 million views of individual episodes, and counting more than 12 million followers on social media. It has a global fan base of over 110 million people, some of which are in Italy, the country in Europe with the highest number of apps downloaded and over 3 million episodes viewed.

You can see it for free on the production website and by downloading the app on your mobile phone which shows the number of views in real time: 157,000,000 with 9,703,851 apps downloaded, and growing visibly. The first two episodes of the third season in the United States at the cinema immediately made The Chosen jump to third place at the box office, with 8.7 million dollars in takings, ahead of major productions such as DC Comics, Disney and Universal and conquered the fans of Netflix, ranking first among the most recommended titles.

The series, directed and co-written by director Dallas Jenkins, stars Jonathan Roumie as Jesus, alongside Shahar Isaac (Simon), Elizabeth Tabish (Mary Magdalene), Paras Patel (Matthew), Noah James (Andrew), Vanessa Benavente (Mary, mother of Jesus).

Season four shows a human Jesus like we’ve never seen before: warm, humorous, inviting. He is so irresistibly divine that you understand why people abandon everything to follow him. The fourth season marks the midpoint of the series, bringing us closer to the culminating events of Jesus’ life.
