Gaia De Martino’s journey within the company has not been easy Friends 23: after obtaining the Evening shirt, the dancer was forced to stop due to an injury which led her to have to rest for 3 weeks. Gaia, however, instead of accepting the possibility of returning in September, preferred to be replaced.
In a recent interview, the dancer stated: “I chose to stay because for me Amici was this year, showing up again in September would have meant starting all over again and it wouldn’t have made sense. It was my year, my dream, my people, my dance. I opened up to my classmates and the public at home, doing it a second time would have been a repetition. This was my moment”.
Furthermore, Gaia told about her emotions at time of deletion: “I felt particular sensations because I wasn’t dancing, it was Aurora who replaced me. The truth is that in my heart I felt so satisfied with what I had given to the program, to the people and to myself. The moment of elimination comes for everyone, what matters is to be proud of yourself” declared the former Amici 23 student, concluding with “As for Aurora, it was important for me. She helped me and I would never have given her the burden of elimination because it wouldn’t have been right.”
