Fomo, or “fear of missing out” is the fear of losing something. A problem that has always existed but which with the rise of social media has had a name and has taken a more disturbing turn than ever. I will have lived this life for years. I never wanted to miss a party. And even if nothing was done, the later I did it, the happier I was. Only now that I have calmed down and am aware of the existence of this disorder am I sure I had it. And that this was master of me for a long time.”
«My reflection is this: fortunately I have always been more or less at peace with my head and I have always believed that everything I have done has contributed to forming my character and my culture – added Briga -. But if I had known 20 years ago that I had some sort of behavioral pathology, would this knowledge have helped me? Are we sure? Would someone try to act on me? Don’t you think it’s forced in recent times to have to diagnose, label and psychoanalyze people’s natural behaviors? Don’t you think that there is an abuse of syndromes and disorders and that they are often diagnosed too simply?”.
