In addition to various rumors that speak of a possible extended version of Shogun, many are wondering if the series will have one second season or not. Let’s try to clarify.
Shogun was initially conceived as a 10-episode “mini-series”. The show is a television adaptation of the novel of the same name by James Clavelland according to the Shogun showrunner, the series will end exactly where the book ends. The words of the creator of the series would hypothetically exclude a second season of Shogun, but it is not the first time that a miniseries turns into a multi-season show following the success or particular request of the producers, an example was “The Leftovers”.
However, there is another big obstacle that could prevent the creation of a second season of Shogun, namely production times. Yes because the project of FX dates back to 2018, and considering the long post-production periods, the series saw the light after 5 years.
