Plane crash on Monte Rosa, a helicopter crashed

Plane crash, around 7.45 today, Tuesday 4 July, on the Swiss side of the Monte Rosa massif. A helicopter of Air Zermatt, a Swiss company, fell not far from the border with Italy, in the Colle Gnifetti area, just below the Capanna Margherita, at about 4,500 meters above sea level. From the information available at the moment, the five people on board are not in critical condition.

The single Aosta Valley rescue center is in contact with the Swiss emergency medical aid 144. The helicopter with the technicians of the Aosta Valley Alpine Rescue and the resuscitator was ready to take off, but once the conditions of those involved in the accident had been ascertained, the Swiss authorities assessed as not needing supportive intervention.

The causes of the incident are to be ascertained. The crash area is not intended for helicopter take-off or landing. From the number of people on board, it cannot be excluded that the aircraft was engaged in tourist or panoramic flight activities.
