It wasn’t an Italian Cup quarter-final like all the others, the one against Lube. To access the Final Four for the twelfth time out of fourteen editions since it has been in the Super League, Sir Susa Scai needed a perfect or almost perfect match. Mission accomplished against an opponent of the highest level. The satisfaction of the Block Devils who will meet Verona on February 7th in Bologna is therefore more than justified.
Lorenzetti «I’m really proud of the boys. This match is theirs alone. These days since we returned from Brazil we have never been able to train. They were also good in the moments where we suffered – he points out -. We kept a fairly constant pace, there were no major glitches. When Civitanova then fell we took advantage of it. I wish our fans a 2026 like the one tonight (the evening of December 29th against Lube, ed.), there was presence, warmth, the feeling of never being alone.”
Rolls «We were prepared for a very long and complicated challenge. In the important moments of the sets we managed to hold our own in reception and come out well with the shots in attack. We are happy, getting to the Final Four this year was complicated and has even more value. Since Lorenzetti arrived we have been experiencing a great cycle. Out of nine competitions played we won seven, which is not normal in high-level sport – he proudly remarks -. This team is not satisfied. He’s still very hungry.”
Plotnytskyi «We played together from the first to the last moment, we went into the match with the right head, deserving to win. The building was a lot of stuff. In long rallies we managed to prevail, for us it was a step forward.”
