The investigation into the story of Anna Bellisario, the 21-year-old who died after eating a vegan tiramisu in a restaurant in Milan, is expanding. The manager of the Flower Burger restaurant and the representatives of a company that supplied the restaurant with foods labeled as vegan but with eggs in the mixture were also investigated.

The investigation into the affair is widening Anna Bellisario, the 21-year-old died after eating a vegan tiramisu in a restaurant in Milan. Under the lens of the investigators, now, others are added three people. It’s about the manager of the Flower Burger restaurant and gods company representatives which supplied the restaurant with products labeled as vegan, such as a mayonnaise and mustard used in fast food: according to the first findings, they would not be linked to the death, but would still contain traces of egg. So for them, it comes the charge of fraud in the exercise of trade.
Two representatives and two employees of the “Glg” company, producer of the theoretically vegan dessert but which, based on the first findings, it contained traces of milk protein: these respond instead of manslaughter, fraud in the exercise of trade and sale of non-genuine foodstuffs. The newspaper reports it The Republic.
Anaphylactic shock after tiramisu
Fatal components for Annawho suffered from a very strong allergy to milk proteins (and a milder allergy to egg). To the point from hardly ever go out to dinner, and to always maintain a very high level of attention towards food. Even that evening in fact, according to the story of boyfriend who was with her, before ordering that tiramisu ask the restaurant for the list of allergens to make sure of the total absence of milk. “She felt sick at the second teaspoon”, the boy’s testimony.
Anna begins to accuse the first symptoms of allergic reaction. He decides to take the cortisone antihistamine, but it doesn’t work. Try to vomit in the bathroom, he takes out the bronchodilator drug that he always carries with him. Even that doesn’t seem to ease the symptoms. A little later he arrives anaphylactic shock: she is rushed to the San Raffaele hospital where, after ten days in a coma, she dies.
Waiting for the autopsy
It will be alone the autopsy, expected in the next few days, to clarify the exact causes of Anna Bellisario’s death. In the meantime the Ministry of Health orders the withdrawal from the market of other lots of tiramisu with milk that caused the death of the 20-year-old in Milan: in fact, they could contain “traces of dairy products, an allergen not listed on the label“. Therefore “consumers are invited to do not consume the product and return it to the store for a refund.”
