On a very hot Sunday at the beginning of summer, between the blue of the sky and the sea separated by the line of the “Panoramica” that goes from Monopoli towards Alberobello, Salvatore Venanzio, on Radical SR4 Suzuki, wins, dominating, the Slalom dei Trulli 2024. The champion from Campania climbs onto the highest step of the podium with the time he set at the end of the third heat, his best on a day that always saw him first in front of everyone, closed in 2’30” and 14 hundredths. A result that allows Salvatore Venanzio to write, for the second time in his career, his name on the roll of honor of the competition and to win fifteen championship points that are worth the return to the top of the Italian rankings. “I am very happy with this victory,” Venanzio declares at the end of the day. “Today everything went well despite the difficulties dictated by really challenging weather conditions due to the great heat.” Second place for the Sicilian Emanuele Schillace, also at the start of the 3500 of the race course on Radical SR4, with the time of the first heat closed with a time worth 151.53 points. In third place is the fellow regional, reigning Italian champion, Michele Puglisi who, again on Radical SR4 Suzuki, paid dearly for a skid that he missed on the trajectory both in the first heat and in the third. For the first time in Puglia, the Sicilian Salvatore “Totò” Arresta, on Formula Gloria B5 Evo Suzuki, obtained fourth place overall and the first place among the cars of the E2 SS Group. Behind him, fifth place for the Campanian Luigi Vinaccia, the winner of the last edition, at the wheel of his Osella PA 6/8 Honda. Lucanian Berardino Vaccaro, on a Formula Tatuus Suzuki, perfected the car for the discipline, finishing sixth ahead of Calabrian Gaetano Rechichi, on an Elia Avrio ST 09 Suzuki, and Molise’s Donato Catano, the winner of the E2 SH Group on an Autobianchi A 112 Suzuki. Closing the top ten of the 2024 Trulli Slalom, in order, are Lazio’s Adriano Ricci at the wheel of a Formula Gloria B5 Evo Suzuki and Giuseppe Palumbo on a Chiavenuto Suzuki, the first among the Apulians in the race. Close to the top ten, eleventh place, first among the Under 23s, is Campania’s Antonio Ruocco on a Radical Prosport Suzuki. Behind him, fellow countryman Giusseppe Esposito, first among the kart cross, at the wheel of his GMN Suzuki and Sicilian Alfredo Giamboi who won the Special Slalom Group on a Fiat X1/9. The same car with which, in the same group, his daughter Angelica wins among the ladies. In Group E1 Italy, Giancarlo Vuolo climbs to the top step of the podium on a Peugeot 205 GTI, imitated in Group N, the most numerous in the entry list, by Andrea Mascolo on a Citroën Saxo VTS. The same car from the double Chevron on board which Vito Punzi climbs to the top step of the Racing Start Group podium. The Racing Start Plus Group and Group A also speak French: in the first, Carmelo Cugno wins on a Peugeot 106; in the second, on the same “little” from the House of the Lion, Alessio Massini. Among the twin-cylinder cars, the Sicilian Pierluigi Bono wins on a Fiat 500, while among the Slalom Prototypes, victory goes to Francesco Scrocca on a Fiat X 1/9. Beniamino Lomascolo, on a Peugeot 205 Rallye, wins alone among the historic cars.
