For many years he had been the backbone of the provincial command vehicle workshop in Via Campania. “I toured Italy: Florence, Massa Carrara, Elba, Val da Osta. Among the most delicate interventions I remember that of 24 March 1998: the fire in the Mont Blanc tunnel. The last three years I decided to quit shifts and no longer do rescue work even though, when necessary, I was called as a driver. I leave behind a lot of friends: with my job in the workshop I met many colleagues. I was happy to see so many people at the farewell party. What I will do? I won’t be bored. I hope I have a few days off to be able to say: I’m retired.”
