Moments of apprehension this afternoon of Monday 1 July 2024 in Rome, in the Ottavia area, due to a gas leak. The alarm was raised around 2:00 PM in the area of ​​via della Stazione di Ottavia, where a gas pipe was damaged by a “third-party company external to the Italgas company”, as a company spokesperson reported.

The 8A fire brigade teams and the Crrc immediately intervened on site for safety and repair operations. To allow the works to be carried out, some families from the adjacent buildings were temporarily evacuated.

The gas leak also had repercussions on rail traffic: trains on the Rome – Viterbo line were suspended as a precaution between Monte Mario and Cesano. To facilitate the intervention, the patrols of the XIV Montemario group have closed via Casal del Marmo between via Trionfale and via della Stazione di Ottavia and via Trionfale between via Casal del Marmo and via Ipogeo degli Ottavi in ​​both directions.

Italgas emergency technicians are working to secure the area and repair the damage. At the moment there is no precise information on when normal service will be restored.
