Also for the 32-year-old Salvatore Barba, on the day of the funeral, Tuesday 2 July, the mayor of Favara Antonio Palumbo proclaimed a day of mourning. And it couldn’t have been otherwise: the entire community is in shock for the sudden loss of two young men in the prime of life, both victims of the road accident which occurred during the night between Saturday and Sunday on Viale delle Dune in San Leone.
“Also on the occasion of the funeral of Salvatore Barba, which will be held on Tuesday 2 July at 3.30 pm in the Mother Church – writes Mayor Palumbo – the municipal administration has decided to proclaim a day of city mourning as a demonstration of the city’s closeness to the family for the tragic fate that united two of Favara’s children”.
The fatal accident in San Leone worsens the toll: Salvatore Barba also died
Salvatore Barba died yesterday, Sunday 30 June, at approximately 6.40 pm. He was hospitalized in Intensive therapy at the San Giovanni di Dio hospital in Agrigento. The doctors did everything to try to save him from death but the clinical picture – already dramatic upon arrival in the emergency room – worsened as the hours passed.
