Change at the top of the provincial command of the Catania Fire Department where engineer Felice Iracà has taken over as regent, taking over from Salvatore Tafaro, who has retired due to having reached the age limit. “I hold the position with pride and honor,” said Iracà, “certain that the provincial command will continue to express its professionalism, and the values of altruism and courage, at the service of the entire Catania community.”
Who is Felice Iracà?
Felice Iracà, 54 years old, current provincial commander of the Fire Brigade and regent of the Catania Fire Brigade, is a civil engineer and freelance journalist. He was born in Catanzaro, but lived for a long time in Reggio Calabria. Having entered the National Corps in 1998, during his career he operated in the command of Verbania, from 1999 to 2012 as Deputy Commander, and from April 2015 to May 2020 as provincial commander. In 2013 he served for two years at the Interior Ministry, at the central offices of the National Corps, before being promoted to first manager in July 2014. From June 2020 to December 2022 he carried out the functions of deputy manager of the Milan command, and, from January in May 2023, as manager of the Fire Prevention and Technical Safety Office of the Lombardy Regional Fire Brigade Directorate. Since 1 June last year he has been provincial commander of Messina, and from today regent of that of Catania.
Morgante retires
After 36 years of community service, department head Filippo Morgante is leaving the Palermo national fire brigade. Morgante, who joined the national corps on August 1, 1990, after the initial training course at the central fire schools, served at the Cremona, Catania and Caltanisetta commands. Since February 12, 1996, he has worked with dedication at the Palermo command, later reaching the rank of department head.
The carreer
Throughout his career, Morgante has stood out for his constant commitment and high sense of duty. Of particular importance, he contributed to the drafting of the new regulation of the operations room of the Palermo command in 2022. Subsequently he held the role of responsible shift coordinator and operational contact of the local command unit.
