Pietrasanta (Lucca), 1 July 2024 – Tragedy in Pietrasanta. A 32-year-old worker died when the tractor he was driving overturned. It happened around lunch time Monday 1st July.
The victim, from the area, leaves his pregnant wife. The intervention was immediate from 118 and gods fire fighters. It was not easy to free the man, who had initially called for help. Then death came. All attempts at resuscitation were useless.
The overturning occurred in a few moments. They were about the 13.30 when the vehicle was coming down via della Rocca. It belongs to a cooperative that had recently finished some maintenance work at the Rocca di Sala.
The road is very steep at that point, the tractor was going down. The vehicle skidded towards the valley and overturned on its side, overwhelming and trapping the same worker and leaning on a tree below. The colleagues, who were ahead, heard the screams and went back. They were the ones who gave the alarm.
The firefighters, who intervened immediately, deflated the tires to try to free the man. But there was nothing that could be done for the worker. For 118 the Pietrasanta Green Cross ambulance intervened with the medical vehicle. With them also the Pietrasanta traffic police and the carabinieri. Death was declared at 2.15pm. A story that raises the issue of safety at work and leaves Pietrasanta shocked.
