Celano – Mayor Septimius Santilli yesterday he signed aorder with which you want prevent the onset and spread of forest fires for the year 2024. In the premises of the device, reference is made to the fact that “the municipal area, during the summer season, can be subject to serious damagewith consequences also on public safetyafter fires which can develop in uncultivated or abandoned areas“.

In light of these considerations, “it is necessary to adopt a provision from the Mayor, as “territorial authority” of civil protection, for the prevention of fire phenomena, also in order to oblige the owners of uncultivated land to implement land cleaning interventions and of prohibit the lighting of fires or embers to eliminate plant residues during the period 17 June – 17 October 2024“.

The Mayor of Celano, therefore, orders the absolute ban for anyone and throughout the municipal territory, starting from 17 June 2024 and until 17 October 2024, of:

  • ignition of plant material coming from agricultural and/or forestry activities;
  • lighting firesfor any purpose, near woods, pasture, agricultural and/or bushy land, as well as along municipal, provincial and consortium roads within the municipal territory;
  • use of equipment a open flame and/or electricity that produce sparks;
  • exercise of pyrotechnic activities and the ignition of fireworks unless previously authorized and regulated;
  • throwing matches, cigars and cigarettes in the proximity and/or presence of plant material as well as carrying out any other activity from which sparks could fly or open flames originate with consequent risk of starting a fire;
  • stopping and/or parking cars in contact with dry grass.
