A third of the salary goes towards rent. This is the bitter analysis of the data that emerges from the Sole 24 Ore report on the average weight of new rental contracts on employee income in Italian provincial capitals. In the last 5 years and only taking new long-term rental contracts as a reference, in Italy the weight of the rent on salaries has gone from 31.6% to 35.2 percent, with an increase of 3.6%. In Rimini this value stands at 33.6% with a growth of 0.4%, less than the national average. There are those who are much worse off. In Milan a new rent costs on average 1,122 euros, in Florence 967 euros and in Bologna 947. In Rimini, according to the report, it stops at 556 euros. The fact remains that new rentals have risen more than the general price index, also thanks to the rush for short-term rentals.

According to the budget councilor, Juri Magrini, the Rimini values depend “on various factors, such as the lower impact of short-term rentals on our market compared to the explosion that has occurred in other tourist areas. Despite being growing also in our territory , short rentals in fact still represent a limited phenomenon, also considering the abundant accommodation offer. Furthermore, incomes remain constant and therefore able to absorb a part of the inflationary burden. This does not mean that even in Rimini more than a third of the salary it goes into rent, making it difficult especially for young people or large families to find sustainable rentals.” This is also demonstrated by the increase in agreed rents, which have grown by over 6% in the last five years. In this direction we have invested in the budget through the Housing Pact and the reduced IMU rates”.
