In the shot put 14.82 metres, with a progress of 17 centimetres
TERAMO – Three athletes of Atletica Gran Sasso have brilliantly qualified for the Italian Championships, scheduled for 29-30 June in La Spezia.
On the occasion of the Brescia Challenge, an event valid for qualification which took place on Saturday and Sunday 15-16 June, Ludovica Montanaro won gold in the shot put competition with the measurement of 14.82 metres, which is also an absolute regional record and eighth Italian performance of the season. For the athlete trained by her father Lucio, an improvement of 17 centimetres. Montanaro, who already held the record with 14.65, took the lead in the second round of throws with 14.74, which was her first record measurement, and then set the best in the fifth round.
In the women’s 5000 meters Francesca Calvauna placed seventh with a time of 16’27″74, also under the old regional record of Veronica Inglese (Atletica Gran Sasso), which had stood since 2009 with 16’41″37. A very important personal progress, given that she held 16’50 ”17.
Ilaria Monaco also qualified in the triple jump with a measurement of 12.51 metres, eighth, 11 centimeters behind the personal best. These three athletes join the long-distance runners Lorenzo Mantenuto and Luigi Case, who have already gained direct access to the Italian Absolute Championships.
