Empoli, 16 June 2024 – A very uncertain and exciting sprint at the conclusion of the Tuscan Junior Championship on the finish line of Avana, in the Memorial Adriano Chiti-Trofeo dei Due Ponti and success in the photo finish for Lorenzo Luci, a fifteen-year-old from Limite sull’Arno who in 2023 had won the regional title in the 2nd year rookies. Countering Luci’s victory, the second of the season after Greve’s, was Lisorini from Livorno, while the others from Mazzarello to Pavi Degl’Innocenti were more secluded.
For Luci, it was confirmation of his excellent qualities and his quick start, while his club, Iperfinish from Fucecchio, demonstrated the strength of its collective with two other athletes in the Top ten. A championship with 97 starters which after 60 km in a compact group caught fire with the breakaway of Cianti and the subsequent one of Gaggioli, one of the major favourites, like Luci, who was caught 3 km from the finish line by around twenty runners, and in the sprint he an angry and winning idea was the one unleashed by Luci. The top three on the podium will compete in the Italian individual time trial championship the day after tomorrow on Wednesday in Grosseto. A match splendidly organized by UC Empolese, a true white and blue celebration (the club’s colours), including balloons, flags and confetti and the flag-wavers of the Caracosta Group of Cerreto Guidi. Numerous athletes were present on the circuit with the 4 passages from the Cerreto Guidi climb.
