The work of the master flower arrangers to create the 2024 edition of the Genzano Infiorata began in the late afternoon of Saturday 15 June, along Via Italo Belardi. A centuries-old tradition that transforms the city into a triumph of colors and scents, attracting thousands of visitors from all over the Peninsula and beyond its borders. During the evening, many gathered to admire how the floral carpets were taking shape under the expert hands of the inflorators.
An ephemeral masterpiece
Various works of art, for a total of two thousand square meters of flowered carpets, are coming to life thanks to the skill and dedication of the master flower artists. In the background, the majestic cathedral of Santa Maria della Cima contributes to creating a setting of extraordinary beauty. The entire via Italo Belardi (still via Livia today, for many Genzanese) will be covered in petals, forming a floral picture that will only be completed during the night, thanks to the incessant work of artists and volunteers.
Preparations and night work for the Infiorata
Already on Saturday, the master flower arrangers and their collaborators began working tirelessly, as evidenced by the numerous preparation photos. The peeling and drawing of the contours of the floral carpets on the ground, which took place in the previous days, was only the beginning of a process which culminates with the placing of the petals on the ground. A night of feverish work made it possible to create true masterpieces, ready to be admired by visitors on Sunday morning. A lot of work also in the portico of the municipal building and in the caves below, with staff working to complete the carpets queuing up to have the boxes full of flower petals delivered.
Three days of culture and traditions, in the sign of Corpus Domini
The great weekend of the Infiorata is accompanied by a rich cultural programme. Exhibitions, conferences and meetings enrich the event, which is not only a visual experience but also a moment of reflection and sharing.
On Sunday afternoon the highlight will be the traditional Corpus Domini procession. The Body of Christ will pass along the floral carpet, between two wings of cheering crowd, creating a moment of great emotion and spirituality.

And the long floral carpet that enters the Collegiate Church of the Santissima Trinità from the outside and reaches up to the altar of the “Chiesa Nova” has already made headlines for its beauty.
Monday 17 June will be the time for the final rites. The historic parade and the parade will see hundreds of children running joyfully along the Infiorata, tearing down the floral carpet and marking the end of the event. A moment that represents not only the conclusion of the event, but also the passing of a tradition that is renewed every year.
With a truly notable turnout already on Saturday, Piazza Tommaso Frasconi was involved in the folkloristic musical concert organized by the Diapason Association and the Folklandia Association, while in the square in front of Palazzo Sforza Cesarini the fashion show “Sotto the sky of Genzano 2024 – We dream as a single humanity” curated by the stylist Filippo La Fontana. Despite the disputed (by some) “Street Food” in via Matteotti, a lot of work also for the Genzano traders, who had to cope with the large flow of visitors.
The Infiorata, a Genzano pride
The Genzano Flower Festival is an integral part of the town’s DNA, an event that tells of the faith and civil commitment of its inhabitants, passed down from generation to generation. The Infiorata has its own specificity: it is culture, beauty, art; all under the sign of the ephemeral, given that he is born and dies within three days.

Returning to the preparation of the Infiorata, it will take shape at night, with the paintings finished before dawn. When the sunlight arrives from the east it will illuminate, once again, a unique Infiorata in the world, which confirms once again how the Genzano Infiorata is an event that celebrates human beauty and creativity, combining art, culture and tradition in a single, extraordinary show.
And, at least for one evening, the pride of the people of Genzano, of all the people of Genzano, can make one’s chest swell and one exclaim, without hesitation: “How beautiful is the Infiorata!”.
From 11am on Sunday 16 June the Infiorata will be broadcast live on the portal www.webtv55.it (which will have a stand in Piazza Don Filippo Fabrizi and will also broadcast on its social channels and, in crossposting, alsoulla Castelli Notizie Facebook page).
