Finally “on time”. A Serie C without appeals

No news came from the awaited federal council which was held yesterday as scheduled. As already expected, in Serie C the only club excluded, now also officially after the negative opinion of Co.Vi.So.C on the registration applications presented on 4 June, is Ancona, who will not even appeal. A framework that eliminates the possibility of postponing the 2024-25 championship (the start of which will therefore remain for the weekend of 23-24-25 August), something which in previous years had instead become a sad practice precisely because of the appeals on admissions and which demonstrates a step forward towards club sustainability. A condition which, as far as Pontedera is concerned, has always been at the number one point of planning. The vacant position will be filled on 27 June, the date of the next federal council, according to repechage criteria already established and confirmed at yesterday’s meeting. That is, as first choice a second team from a club in the Serie A championship, therefore a team relegated from Serie C and one to be drawn in a specific Serie D ranking, a sequence that is rotated. As I know, there is a second team ready to join the already active Juventus NG and Atalanta U23, and it is Milan U23, which has until June 25th to comply with the obligations necessary for registration. Apparently, the Rossoneri club is preparing to put on the table a total investment of 12 million euros for the construction of the team, including operating costs. And, again from what is rumoured, the AC Milan baby would play its home matches at the Chinetti in Solbiate Arno, a facility for which the AC Milan club seems ready to make more than 700 thousand euros available as an expense to carry out the improvements necessary to participate to Serie C. However, the criterion for the distribution of these three second teams has not yet been defined, because, as is already clear from the regulations, there cannot be more than one per group. So what will the split be? If the criterion is geographical (classic horizontal cut with which the three groups have been formed for a few years now), Atalanta would remain in group A, Milan would end up in group B, while Juventus would go to group C. However, it seems that the hypothesis of a draw between the three clubs is gaining ground. We will see. Meanwhile, while the Granata sporting director Moreno Zocchi was honored with an Apple MacBook Air by the owner of RK Tech, a partner company of the club, Andrea Castellani, Pontedera is enjoying the recent victory of the 2014 team at the River Iconic tournament played in Arezzo. The Granata team placed ahead of important clubs such as Ternana, Pisa, Perugia and the hosts, thus achieving a prestigious result.
