Tragedy in Montesilvano, province of Pescara. A 40-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl, probably her daughter, died on Wednesday afternoon when hit by a train near the railway station. The mayor of the city, Ottavio De Martinis, confirmed the news via social media.
The dynamics
According to the first reconstructions of the incident, the woman and the little girl were seen approaching the tracks hand in hand. According to the testimonies, it could therefore be a voluntary gesture. The train involved was the FrecciaRossa 9810 which was traveling on the Milan-Pescara route. The 118 health workers immediately intervened on the spot but unfortunately for mother and daughter it was already too late. The Carabinieri and Railway Police then took care of carrying out the necessary investigations and investigations.

“The sad and shocking news of the accident that occurred at the Montesilvano station, where a woman and a little girl, presumably mother and daughter, tragically lost their lives – wrote the mayor – has led us to cancel the planned celebrations”. Today , on Thursday 14 June, there should have been a celebration for the re-election of De Martinis after the municipal elections which took place on 8 June. “As a sign of deep condolences – adds the mayor – we will proclaim the city’s mourning to express our heartfelt participation in the pain of the family and acquaintances of the victims”.
