Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th Junein the Mario Saverio Cozzoli stadium in Molfetta (Ba), the finals of the regional youth athletics club championships were held, in which Cus Bari triumphed in the Cadette and Girls categories.
As for the individual performances, among the girls, double victory for Sofia Savino, who came first in both the 200 Hs and the 60 Hs specialties, while Amelia Rolland won silver in both the 60 meters and the 60 Hs. First place in the 4×100 relay for the team made up of Adriana Caporusso, Amelia Rolland, Giulia Direnzo and Sofia Savino. Among the boys, a second place for Ludovico Conti in the 2000 meter race walk.
Particularly satisfying were the races of the cadets Valeria Barattolo and Rosa Flaminia Grimaldi, who came third in the 300 Hs and high jump respectively. A place on the podium also for Anna Grasso (1 kg disc) and Luna Maria Loparco (3 kg hammer). In the 4×100 race walk, silver went to the Cadette team made up of Valentina Digilio, Diana Di Cagno, Alessia Mastro and Valeria Barattolo. Same result also for the cadets Tommaso Bianco and Ernesto Matteo Bosna, who came second respectively in the 300 meters and the 1200 steeplechase.
“Until four years ago our participation in youth competitions was limited to a few presences, then with the help of all the technicians we undertook a process of rebuilding the youth sector which is giving us a lot of satisfaction – commented Gaetano Barone -. We still regret not being able to qualify with the Boys team too, but the Cadets had an excellent final, the Cadettes won and the Girls managed to repeat last year’s success”.
In recent years, Cussina athletics has been achieving important results. After the final of the club championships in 2022, in which there was a third place for the girls and an eighth for the Cadettes, in 2023 there was a victory for both the girls and the boys, accompanied by a fourth place for the Cadettes, up to this year’s women’s double and fourth place for the Cadets.
“We have also revived the walking sector – added Barone -, seeing in these last championships the participation of four athletes with the second place of Ludovico Conti in the 2km race walk, for which he had qualified as an individual and not as a team”.
