Fifty artists from all over the world chosen from the over 400 who participated in the call. Two hundred works on display, three months of exhibitions, workshops, meetings, tastings, team building sessions, book presentations, workshops for the little ones, board games. A team of sixty people who have been working for days to set up the 12,000 square meters of Palazzo Guinigi, which is once again open to the city and will host the event, Lucca Biennale Cartasia, which has now become a global point of reference when it comes to paper, creativity, art, innovation, design.
Freshly inaugurated, the headquarters chosen for this edition of LuBiCa will be the protagonist of works, elements of architecture, design, fashion and artists who will create works based on the characteristics of the spaces occupied. Palazzo Guinigi is currently transforming into the creative heart of Cartasia, today LuBiCa, and in the coming months it will always remain open: here visitors will be able to admire the works on display, but also follow the presentation of a book, taste typical products, listen to music , participate in a workshop, a meeting, spend time with a board game. The common thread will, of course, always be paper.
Outside Palazzo Guinigi, around the city, there will be no shortage of always surprising monumental works, a widespread exhibition that has been guiding visitors to discover the city for twenty years and twelve editions, offering a different point of view on squares and views of the historic center. The artists who will create them are coming to Lucca to create their projects right at Palazzo Guinigi and at the Mercato del Carmine, another of LuBiCa’s “places”.
The theme of this edition of the Biennale is “Here and now: tomorrow”. The program will be revealed in the coming weeks on the occasion of the inauguration and sees the collaboration of local and national schools and associations, writers, influencers, entrepreneurs, universities, research and cultural centres. A network that in three months will bring many guests to Lucca with the shared objective of promoting art and culture as a philosophy of life.
