Election 2024 turnout: definitive data for European, Regional, Municipalities

For the regional elections in Piedmont the turnout was 55.30%, for the municipal elections it was 62.68%

The definitive data ofturnout in the 2024 European elections in Italy is 49.69%, which includes the sections plus the off-site communications. The difference between North and South is large. In fact, in constituency I of North-Western Italy the turnout was 55.09%, in constituency II of North-Eastern Italy it was 53.96% and in constituency III of Italy Central 52.53%, while in the IV constituency of Southern Italy 43.72% and in Insular Italy 37.77%. However, it is precisely in the V constituency of the Islands that the only one in which there was a very slight increase compared to the previous European elections, in fact in 2019 the turnout was 37.20%. There was a sharp decline, however, in all the other constituencies, especially in those of Northern Italy. These are the final data:

As regards the regional elections in Piedmont, the definitive turnout was by 55.30% and also in this case the drop is clear compared to 2019, when it was 63.34%.

Municipal turnout

As regards the municipal elections, the turnout was stable at 11pm on Sunday 9 June at 62.68%, decreasing in all regions except Sardinia. These are the final data:

At 7pm Sunday 9 June 2024second day of voting for European elections 2024, the turnout figure at 7.00 pm was 40.86%. In the morning of Sunday 9 June the polling stations reopened their doors to those entitled to vote at 7am. They will close at 11pm like the previous day.

In the last European elections in 2019, the turnout was, in the end, 54.5%, with the votes also of Italians abroad: on that occasion, however, voting took place in just one day. We wonder if the percentage will be equal this year or if it will be lower.

EUROPEAN ELECTIONS 2024 TURN OUT ON 9 JUNE AT 7 PM

At 7pm on 9 June, the participation figure for the 2024 European Elections marked 40.86% of those entitled to vote. This was announced on the website of the Ministry of the Interior. A decrease compared to the 43.2% recorded at the same time in 2019, the year in which the elections were held in a single day, and a point and a half more than the similar consultation in 2014.

The geographical distribution of turnout shows significant disparities: the North West showed the highest rate with 47.64%, followed by the North East with 45.49% and the Center with 43.25%. On the contrary, the Islands showed the lowest participation with only 29.08% of voters, while in the South the percentage reached 33.42%.

EUROPEAN ELECTIONS 2024 TURN OUT ON 9 JUNE at 12pm

The Ministry of the Interior has released the voting data of the Italian voters in the 2024 European Elections, at 12pm on Sunday 9 June 2024. There is talk of a turnout of 25.15%, with communications arriving from 61,530 sections out of 61,650. However, data on turnout percentages are missing those who voted from abroadwhich will only be communicated when the polls close at 11pm on Sunday 9 June.

The percentage is higher in North Western, North Eastern and Central Italy, while it is lower in the Southern regions and islands. The lowest turnout was recorded in insular Italy, with a clear difference compared to the North-West which, instead, came in first place.

EUROPEAN ELECTIONS, TURN OUT ABROAD

What is happening abroad instead? We already know that the Labor Party would have won the European Elections in Malta: here the voting operations concluded on Saturday 8 June 2024 and Prime Minister Robert Abela declared victory halfway through the counting, thanks to the vote projections.

As regards the voter turnout in other European countries, in France at 12pm on Sunday 9 June the percentage was 19.81%, a slight increase. Here, however, voting is only possible today.

Finally, here is the turnout as regards the Administrative elections which take place in approximately 3700 municipalities. The turnout, in this case, was 53.66%.
