Election Day – Second day of voting in Irpinia

Second day of voting in Irpinia. We left early this morning at 7:00. The long day will end at 11pm when the counting for the European Championships will then begin. For the ballot for the administrative elections, which in Irpinia involve 41 other municipalities in addition to the capital including Montoro, Mercogliano and Montella, we will have to wait until 2pm on Monday.

Yesterday, one in four voters went to the polls for the municipal elections. The percentage of voters for the European elections is decidedly lower: just over 13%. In the city, 11 thousand out of a total of 45,815 potential voters expressed their preference. Among them are the candidates for the office of mayor Antonio Gengaro, Laura Nargi, Aldo D’Andrea, Gennaro Romei and Vittorio Boccieri. Rino Genovese and Modestino Iandoli instead reside in Mercogliano and San Potito Ultra respectively. The next surveys on partial turnout will be released at 12:00 and 19:00.

Also at the polls this morning, wearing his usual blue suit, was former mayor Gianluca Festa, who, as is known, was under house arrest for the investigation involving Palazzo di Città. Festa reached the polling station in via Scandone on foot and alone as ordered by the investigating judge.
