Piedmont elections, turnout at 17.6% last night
Polling stations already open in Piedmont for voting. Today, Sunday 9 June, polling stations open from 7am and will remain until 11pm.
The turnout at 11pm for the regional elections in Piedmont was 17.6%. This is a decrease compared to five years ago, when at 12pm 19.57% of those entitled to vote had voted. However, it must be remembered that in 2019 the elections were held on a single day, while this year the polls will also be open tomorrow from 7am to 11pm. Five years ago, at 7pm 49.73% of voters had voted. The constituency with the highest turnout was that of Biella, with 19.6%. Verbano-Cusio-Ossola came in last place with 15.6%.

The counting will instead begin at 2pm on Monday 10 June, as priority will be given to the ongoing European elections: the final results for the Piedmont regional elections are expected on Monday evening.
In 2023 the electoral law of the Piedmont region was changed. The next president will be the most voted candidate and his coalition will be assigned, thanks to the majority bonus, 55% of the seats in the Regional Council. The 2019 elections saw the success of Alberto Cirio (centre-right) who obtained 49.86% of the preferences. Cirio is also a candidate in these elections, for a second mandate. His opponents are Gianna Pentenero (centre-left), Sarah Disabato (5 Star Movement), Alberto Costanzo (Libertà) and Francesca Frediani (Popular Union).
