The tragedy occurred on the morning of June 2, Republic Day, around 10:00, when Roberto Nestola was struck by a sudden illness, probably a heart attackwhile he was at home. Despite the timely intervention of the 118 rescuers, attempts to resuscitate him proved in vain.

His death left a deep void not only in his family, but also among colleagues, friends and all those who knew him. Nestola leaves behind his wife Silvia, his parents, a brother and a sister.
