Liguria conquers Japan at “Italia, Amore Mio!”: pesto, focaccia and a dream towards Expo 2025

Genoa. Liguria shines as the absolute protagonist at “Italia, Amore mio!”, the largest Italian festival in Japan, on stage in Tokyo until May 26th. A golden opportunity to enhance the food and wine and tourism excellence of the region in front of a Japanese public who is increasingly passionate about Italy.

A seminar for professionals and an enthusiastic audience. On May 24th (morning in Italy) the curtain opened with a seminar dedicated to Ligurian tourism, which saw the participation of over 50 tour operators, travel agencies, journalists and Japanese influencers. From tomorrow, the festival will open its doors to the public, who will be able to immerse themselves in the flavors and culture of Liguria.

Signature show cooking: pesto, walnut sauce and dream focaccia. The spotlight turns on show cooking of the star chef Ivano Ricchebono, which will give the Japanese public masterclasses on pesto and walnut sauce. The absolute protagonists will be the authentic flavors of Liguria, with oil and wine to complete the sensorial experience. And for a touch of tradition, here is the focaccia prepared by maestro Ricchebono in collaboration with the chef of Focaccia di Recco 500 Kenichi Nakamawho honed his culinary art in Liguria before opening his restaurant in the East in 2023.

Liguria: the only official cuisine and launch pad for Expo 2025. The presence of Liguria, the only Italian region at the festival, is part of a broader strategy of tourism and commercial promotion towards the Far East. Objective: to strengthen the image of the territory and lay the foundations for an exceptional participation in the Osaka Expo in 2025.

«We are in Tokyo for “Italia Amore Mio!” and for some preparatory meetings in view of Expo 2025», declared the tourism councilor. «Liguria, increasingly international, is aiming for new goals in tourism, with benefits for the economy and employment. I thank the consul and the director of international relations of Expo 2025 for illustrating the opportunities that the great event of 2025 will offer to our region».
