Cobolli challenges Medjedovic, Alcaraz finds Wolf

Once the qualifying tournament was concluded, the place of each of the qualifiers and lucky losers in the Roland Garros draw was officially drawn. It could have gone much better Flavio Cobolli: the Roman tennis player, although in great shape, will have to face a very difficult test by the name of Hamad Medjedovic. Champion in the last edition of the Next Gen ATP Finals, the twenty-year-old Serbian still has a rather low ranking (he is number 134) largely due to several injuries suffered in the first part of this season, but already in Rome and also in Paris he recalled his value to all: at the Foro Italico he surrendered to Daniil Medvedev but only 7-5 in the third set, here in the qualifiers he did not lose any sets during the three matches played. The two have never faced each other before, but it is certain that it will not be a simple match for Cobolli.

Qualifier Mattia Bellucci was drawn against Frances Tiafoe, a player of high level and experience but who is struggling quite a bit this season: his record so far in the 22 games in which he has been a protagonist is 11-11. Good draw for Giulio Zeppieri: his opponent will be Adrian Mannarino who, although high in the rankings, does not have a good feeling with clay and – in addition to not having yet found success on clay in recent months – he won only three of the 18 matches he played in his career at Roland Garros.

Good news is coming instead Casper Ruud: the finalist of the last two years, initially drawn immediately against the difficult teenager Jakub Mensik, will instead find himself facing Felipe Meligeni Alves. The Czech in fact withdrew from the tournament and his place was taken by the Brazilian, making his debut in the main draw on Parisian clay. Carlos Alcaraz will face the lucky loser Jeffrey John Wolf, American who had only managed three games in the decisive round of the cadet draw against Jesper de Jong (Jack Draper’s first round opponent). Hubert Hurkacz, for his part, will make his debut opposite Shintaro Mochizuki.

Zizou’s pairings are interesting Bergsagainst the semi-finalist of the Internazionali d’Italia Alejandro Tabiloand Gabriel Say itwith the Canadian who will challenge the returning Kei Nishikori.
