Gaza, Israel recovers the bodies of three hostages. But there is a window of opportunity for talks

The bodies of three other hostages held by Hamas were recovered overnight in the northern Gaza Strip by Israeli security forces. The IDF found the bodies of Oriòn Hernàndez Radoux, 30 years old, Hanan Yablonka, 42 years old, and Michel Nisenbaum, 59 years old, who had been kidnapped in the Mefalsim area and, according to Israeli media, killed during the attack on Hamas in Israel on October 7. Until recently there was no information on their status and it was believed that they were alive. According to the Times of Israel, Hernández Radoux, a French-Mexican citizen, was the boyfriend of Shani Louk, one of the four hostages found dead in Jabaliya last week. Hernandez Radoux and Yablonka were at the Supernova rave on the day of the Hamas attack on October 7.

In the meantime, a faint hope is rekindled of restarting talks for a ceasefire and for the release of the hostages still in the hands of Hamas. The director of the CIA, William Burns, is expected in Paris today, reports a Western source close to the dossier cited by AFP. According to the Times of Israel, Burns is expected to meet with Mossad chief David Barnea and Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. The high-level meeting will be the first since negotiations broke down two weeks ago after Hamas responded to a proposal put forward by American, Qatari and Egyptian mediators with proposals deemed unacceptable by both the United States and Israel. It is unclear whether Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel will also attend the meeting as he has in the past, but Cairo will remain involved in the mediation process, a US official and an Israeli official said, confirming what the news site reported Axios.
