With the end of the school year, the conclusion of the educational project “A lesson in water” promoted by Acqualatina, which involved all the schools in the area, is also approaching. For the 2023-2024 school year, more than 5,000 students participated in classroom instruction and laboratory and facility visits.

Highly Visited Sites

Among the most visited sites this school year are the Gaeta laboratory for the analysis of drinking water and the purification plants of Formia, Sabaudia, Latina, Aprilia, as well as the Ninfa production plant.

Competition for Primary Schools

The deadline for participating in the “Draw water saving” prize competition for primary schools expired in April. The examining commission recently selected the winning designs, which will be awarded prizes soon.

The project

The educational project, started in 2003, is aimed at schools of all levels and universities. It aims to raise students’ awareness of the importance of environmental protection and the correct use of water resources. With a wide range of offers, the project responds to the different age groups of students. Selected out of 274 projects carried out by 134 companies, it was included among the Italian best practices by UTILITALIA, the national federation of utilities.

Project Structure

The backbone of the project is based on classroom lessons differentiated by age group: recreational-educational activities for primary and middle schools, and technical lessons held by management professionals for high schools and universities. Furthermore, guided tours of plants and laboratories are planned.

Collateral Activities

Over the years, the project has been enriched with theatrical events, meetings with actors, initiatives on the beaches and guided visits to the Garden of Ninfa. These activities aim to actively engage students in the learning process.

#AcqualatinaNoPlastic initiative

An integral part of the project is the #AcqualatinaNoPlastic initiative, which promotes the abandonment of single-use plastics. The Acqualatina team distributes reusable plastic-free water bottles to the schools that join the project, which are particularly important for protecting the environment.

Competition

The competition, dedicated to primary schools, rewards the most significant designs in terms of water saving. This competition represents a further stimulus for students to reflect on the importance of water as a precious resource and to develop greater environmental awareness.
