The daily emergencies to be faced between flames and very high temperatures, interventions in inaccessible areas, extreme operations to save the lives of those who have decided to end it all and life marked by sirens. The courage of the firefighters told in a short film with the privileged and empathetic eye of the firefighters themselves, who bring a dramatic news story to the scene and show the viewer the human dimension of those who risk their lives every day, but don’t want to be called “superhero”. Wearing the fireman’s uniform in “The Elefants” – this is the title of the docufilm shot in the municipalities of Jesi, Montecarotto and Poggio San Marcello in the province of Ancona – is Marco Aceti41 years old, from Ciampino, the actor-firefighter, who landed on the screen out of passion, who, with around twenty films and numerous theatrical performances, has made himself known and appreciated by the general public.

«The title of this latest effort by director Antonio Maria Castaldo (also a firefighter) – explains Aceti on duty at the command in via Genova, in Rome and behind it, interventions carried out in the teams of Frascati and Marino – finds its reason in nature, in the strength and resistance of these animals who can be compared to the firefighters who daily reassure and empathize with those who find themselves in a condition of need and fragility. We don’t want to be labeled as heroes, because we are men who have chosen this job out of passion, with the intention of carrying out a mission with a lot of professionalism acquired through education and training.”

The mission of the short film, produced by the Department of Fire Brigade, Public Rescue and Civil Defence, together with the Central Fire Brigade Directorate of Training and the Regional Directorate of the Marche Fire Brigade, is to show from inside a red zone, where that is, no one except the rescuers can access what really happens and their modus operandi. « I thank my COLLEAGUES – he adds – Antonio Maria Castaldo, Gianluca Grazini, Antonio Rocco actor, Totò’ Onnis, Cristina D’Angelo commander and regional director of Marche and Carlo Dall’Oppio the head of the fire brigade for this edifying experience» .

The film will be presented at the sixtieth edition of the Pesaro Film Festival, capital of culture 2024.
A thin thread links the film, which focuses on the rescue of a man, just recorded, and the life of Aceti who recently intervened in via Panisperna to stop a young man from attempting suicide. «He had worked all night – he reconstructs those dramatic moments while his dark eyes suddenly become shiny – and when we arrived on site he was already outside the window, from underneath the building we spoke to him to reassure him, then I approached with the ladder, little by little I climbed up and with a cautious gesture, I grabbed him and saved him.” A hug full of affection and hope. «This intervention – concludes Marco Aceti – touched me a lot because a few days later this boy contacted me on Facebook to thank me».
