The third edition of “Lector in Science” kicks off tomorrow in Conversano

The third edition of “Lector in Science” kicks off tomorrow in Conversano. The inauguration with the rector of the University of Bari Bronzini and the first podcasts created by the schools that participated in the Rossella Panarese Award. The focuses with AI applied to creativity and work.

On focus “Staying human in the age of Artificial Intelligence”, the third edition of the Lector in Science Festival begins tomorrow, Thursday 23 May 2024 which will take place in Conversano until Saturday 25 May. Organized by Di Vagno Foundation in collaboration with theUniversity of Bari Aldo Moro and Polytechnic of Bariand the first event of cultural programming of the Di Vagno Foundation “I Granai del Sapere”focused this year on the theme of “The discovery of the future” and which will continue in September with the XX edition of Lectorinfabula.

In this edition of Lector in Science we will try to understand what are the advantages of Artificial Intelligence, the positive sides but also the negative onescomparing the technical aspect with the human one, reading our daily life starting from one or the other aspect.

The first two appointments at 9.30 as part of Lector boys. In the Conference room of the Monastery of San Benedettowith Strong as the sun (GECO project) we will ask ourselves if it is possible to create a happy community where there is energy, warmth and light for everyone. The sociologist Rosa Tiziana Bruno will talk about a book born from co-design paths on the themes of sustainable and renewable energy as part of the GECO project from 2019 to 2022 with schools and educational institutions in the Pilastro district of Bologna.

In the Library room of the Community Libraryinstead, it will be the turn of the journalist and central editor-in-chief of Focus Vito Tartamella with his A salami in space (Dedalo editions). The first collection of pranks that have played and, at times, changed the history of science. the pranks organized by scientists, from Leonardo da Vinci to Einstein, by magazines such as Science and Nature or even NASA and CERN in Geneva. To discover the playful side of science and learn while having fun.

At 10.30 in the “M. Marangelli” the talk with the rector of the University of Bari Stefano Bronzini and Cristiana Castellotti responsible for current affairs and in-depth programs at Rai Radio3. We will talk about University of the future because lArtificial intelligence also makes Italian universities evolve: not just information, industrial and automation engineering, computer science and data science. Humanities also include courses linked to the world of AI. There are many possibilities for students to choose specific paths in which the future is predominant.

Followed by “In a distant sky”the first of the sessions dedicated to the Award named after the creator and curator of Rai Radio 3 Scienze, Rossella Panarese, and created in collaboration with Rai Radio3. Starting from the theme “Artificial intelligence: tell me about the future” the participants in the second edition of the Rossella Panarese Award they built their own podcast. The competing groups present their works. They will do it tomorrowIISS Alpi Montale of Rutigliano and the Simone Morea High School of Conversano.

Always at 5.00 pm in the San Benedetto conference room the focus on the imaginary with Marco Romeo founder of Inbibo srl, Riccardo Viel professor of the Department of Humanistic Research and Innovation at the University of Bari, Francesca Vessia professor at the Department of Law Uniba e Danilo Caivano delegate for European planning of the University’s Computer Science Department. The question to answer is: how does generative artificial intelligence apply to creativity fields? From cinematography to entertainment, technology will change the sector’s skills needs and, with it, training paths, as well as the effects on the protection of intellectual property.

At 7.00 pm in the same rooma meeting of the observatory “The pleasure of working” entitled Yin Mao’s May 1st. digital skills, artificial intelligence and the future of work. For the conversation between the journalist Dionisio Ciccaresethe sociologist and scientific director of Media Duemila Derrick de Kerckhove and Maurizio Del Conte full professor of labor law at the Bocconi University of Milan, we will start from a phrase from the most cited (living) writer of aphorisms in the world, Fabrizio Caramagna: “In the year 2074, on May 1st, workers’ day was celebrated : only one. The first day of Lector in Science will end at 8.30 pm in the San Benedetto Church with the lesson/concert Strings & Strings. Can a String Orchestra reveal the secrets of the Universe? Can the vibration of an “invisible” string generate perfect harmony in the world? Can Music explain the origin of the Cosmos? A debate on the link between Music and Physics to the sound of the piano with Alessandro Dell’Aere teacher of mathematics and physics at the Salvemini high school in Bari, Ezio Sardella physics teacher at the Simone Morea high school in Conversano and Antonio Lorusso president of the cultural musical association – “Giuseppe Piantoni” Study Center.
