Tuesday 21 May 2024. New resources immediately in the field for the 2024 forest firefighting campaign. Since yesterday, the first supply of 36 new pick-up Ford Ranger (out of a total of 179 purchased in recent months), according to a three-day calendar.
We start from the fleets of Sassari and Tempio and within this week all Forestas territorial services will receive the first renewal of the fleet to be implemented immediately for the first interventions.
The allocation of vehicles is underway in the Forestas car park in Bagantinus (Decimomannu) under the supervision and coordination of the regional councilor for environmental protection Rosanna Laconi and the general director of the Agency Antonio Casula, accompanied by the managers of the Forestas fleet, civil protection and fire prevention service, who managed the complex supply .
The second supply of the first batch will be delivered in the next few weeks, 36 others pick-up equipped with AIB and Civil Protection modules, 450 liter tankers and pumps with essential equipment for putting out forest fires, and so over 70 vehicles will be operational before highlight from the AIB summer 2024 campaign which promises to be as complex and demanding as all the last ones, due to the heat and drought of the last few months.
The other vehicles purchased, 6 Mercedes Unimogs with heavy tankers, are on their way.
