The Avs candidate for the north-east intervenes on the events that have affected the Salesian and Fornovia areas, in particular those on the Scodogna stream.

“One year after the flood in Romagna, we find ourselves in the middle of the mud with extreme phenomena that are becoming more and more frequent and intense. A striking case is the water bomb that caused the flooding of the Scodogna torrent just 13 years after the flood event that devastated the valley and also caused one victim”.

“An event, that of 2011, considered exceptional, without historical precedent, with a return time estimated at over 100 years. An estimate evidently based on a climate that no longer exists. Thirteen years later, what seemed like an exceptional event was repeated in the same area, with 50 millimeters of water falling in the space of half an hour and a new rapid and sudden flood which fortunately, this time, caused no casualties ”.

“We can no longer pretend that the acceleration of the climate crisis is not underway – declares Nicola Dall’Olio, candidate of the Alleanza Verdi Sinistra for the North East constituency in the European elections – Anyone who denies it or minimizes it is irresponsible who places the basis for the recurrence of these phenomena and should personally pay for the damage they cause.”

“The methods of land management and hydraulic safety must be radically changed: it is necessary to act urgently on the adaptation front and achieve zeroing of our climate-altering emissions as soon as possible – declared Dall’Olio, before going into specifics – It’s not that no work has been done on the Scodogna since 2011, the problem is that it hasn’t helped: works such as the rolling tanks and the containment embankments haven’t worked or haven’t held up. Were they under-designed or were there problems in their execution? The appropriate checks must be carried out and action taken accordingly.”

Precisely on these issues and on European mitigation and adaptation policies, the candidate Nicola Dall’Olio will discuss with residents and citizens of the Municipality of Fornovo di Taro in a public meeting organized by Legambiente to be held Wednesday 22 May at 6.15pm at the Arci Guatelli club in Riccò. In the evening, at 9pm, it will instead be at My Cinema in Fidenza for the screening of the film Threatened Soil focused on land consumption in the food valley.
