PORTO SANT’ELPIDIO – Appointment for next Sunday on the Portoelpidiense seafront starting from 9.30 am. The regional president of Coni, Fabio Luna: «Thank you for what you do». Next year we are thinking of a week-long initiative in which the Marche Pro Locos will also be involved

Just under a week remains until the start of the 3rd edition of the Brain Run, the running race organized by Podistica Moretti Corva which this year moves to the seafront of Porto Sant’Elpidio. No longer in July but in May to avoid the sultry summer days and allow as many people as possible to participate given that part of the proceeds will go to support the Nemo center in Ancona, a center that takes care of people suffering from neuromuscular diseases, such as ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) and muscular dystrophies.
The press conference was opened by Fausto Chioini, the driving force and creator of the race born in 2022. Having suffered from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis since 2018, Fausto won his challenge of creating an event that linked the sporting part to the social part. Aside from the many thanks to all those present and, despite his condition worsening, this year too he has given his contribution to the organization because this event wants to send a message of hope to other patients.
The regional president of CONI, Fabio Luna, also spoke: «When we talk about sport we are used to thinking about medals, about the World Cup but we often don’t remember that sport is also something else. Medals make us rejoice, it’s true, but there are invisible medals which are those of the social sector. Thank you for what you do because you are the driving force of our Region.” The mayor Massimiliano Ciarpella says how «this special initiative is very important because it conveys a noble message» and the sports councilor Enzo Farina adds that «there will certainly be many of us and it will allow us to experience our city». Greetings also arrive with a video message from regional councilor Andrea Putzu.
The vice president of Fidal Marche, Sergio Bambozzi, spoke about the sporting side of the event: «It is a flagship because it is one of the few national 10km events that takes place in the Marche». In fact, the national race, approved by Fidal, will be run on a 10 kilometer route where some of the most interesting athletes on the national running scene will compete.
But families, children and the less fit will also be able to participate in a non-competitive walk of 4 kilometers and “having moved to the seafront will allow us to intercept more people and raise more funds for charity” adds the president of Moretti Corva Running, Alfonso Ramini, also illustrating the route that will wind from the square in front of the Holiday camping to the Europa seafront.
Another novelty this year will also be the participation of Unpli Pro Loco Marche, with the president of the Pro Loco of Porto Sant’elpidio, Daniela Piergentili, who explains: «We have promoted the idea of making this disease known to all the Pro Locos in the Marche region. On Sunday we will be present at the walk and for next year we are thinking about a week for ALS where we can invite all the Pro Locos and raise funds for this disease.”
Sports side, it was said, but also medical side, with Dr. Stefania Angelocola of the neurology department of Fermo who says how the diagnoses are increasingly increasing and that the hospital collaborates both with the community of Capodarco, which takes care of the rehabilitation, both with the Nemo center in Ancona, represented by the representative Sonia Brunetti, who talks about the value of this partnership « For us the Brain Run has a very important meaning because since the birth of the NeMO Ancona Clinical Center it has been at our side, demonstrating the great heart and solidarity of our Marche region – declares Sonia Brunetti, representative of NeMO Ancona – We can only be grateful to all those who “run with us” in giving a message of hope and concrete help to people’s care activities with ALS of our NeMO Center and, in particular, by supporting the nurse coaching project which supports hundreds of families as they return home from NeMO”.
Also presented for the occasion was a book written by Roberto Addazi which tells the story of Moretti Corva Running, with many archive images.
