The next hearing will therefore be held on May 27, and on that occasion the deputy attorney general will formulate his conclusions. “In such a trial, about the death of a 14-year-old boy– commented Sergio Pisani, lawyer of the Giordano family – it is not possible that the General Prosecutor’s Office does not at least equip itself to make the file available to the deputy general prosecutor for the indictment. The father and mother of the very young victim will certainly not have their son returned but at least they are owed dignity“. The boy was fatally injured on 5 July 2014, while he was with friends at the entrance to the Galleria Umberto I; the large piece of rubble hit him on the head, causing a serious injury. Admitted to hospital, he died four days later, on 9 July.

In the first instance 5 convictions and one acquittal

The first degree trial ended with five sentences: two years’ imprisonment for Giovanni Spagnuolo, head of the housing safety service of the Civil Protection; two years for Franco Annunziata, housing safety service technician; two years and one year and two months for Bruno Mariano and Marco Fresa, the administrators who succeeded one another in the management of the condominium in Piazzetta Serao; two years for Elio Notarbartolo, technician on behalf of the condominium; the housing safety service technician Giuseppe Africano was acquitted on the merits.
