She arrived in Milan from Piacenza in 2014, Giulia Salemi, and at the time he paid 300 euros for a bunk bed, in a house shared with ten other people. The former gieffina, now influencer and presenter, recalled the beginnings speaking with the Corriere della Seraand underlining how difficult it was for her to find an authentic dimension in the city that is hers today.

“In Milan you make a bit of a pact with the devil: to be accepted you have to stay within the system – fashion, entertainment – that is, always be pretty, well-groomed, with the right joke like those you have to hang out with, bitch”, said Salemi . “A mask. I grew up saying what I think, I’m true, so I had to stop myself, I was walking on eggshells. I made mistakes, yes, but at 31 I’m sick of them.” There was no shortage of painful episodes: «In some broadcasts light commentary was required by contract. An episode comes out and certain articles follow: how silly it is. I felt bad about it for years.” The influencer recalled how defective she felt at the time: “I spent ten years trying to be accepted, an illusion, given that I was never good anyway: beautiful and frivolous, not even beautiful, inadequate, light-hearted.” And then there were the public occasions, the events: “I never had the topic ready.”
Today a lot has changed, starting from his way of working. If before she published a bit of everything, over time she has become more careful. «I think we need more substance. I forward content for work, something about myself, I tell a story about a place I liked, beautiful things that I feel like sharing. Less, with more quality”, she explained, even if whatever she does there is always someone ready to attack her or criticize her negatively. Haters, well known to those who live with online content. Someone is persecuting her – she underlines – always the same ones with false names. «There have always been criticisms», she recalls about her life as an influencer, but today she has found her stability and that is what counts, as well as her affections, from her friends (few) to her boyfriend Pierpaolo Pretellthe. «I say: “I am like this, I accept myself“. If others don’t like it, it’s the same.”
