flooding one year after the flood, Civil Protection comes into play

A violent storm with rain, thunder and hail crossed the Ravenna hinterland this afternoon, after the wave of bad weather that had already caused some flooding on Monday. An intense meteorological event, although not comparable to the one that hit Romagna during the flood a year ago. A wave of bad weather was expected and for which the ‘yellow’ weather warning for thunderstorms active since Tuesday had in fact been extended.

Starting from the Imola area and then moving to the Ravenna province, the bad weather hit in particular the towns of Bubano and Mordano in the Bolognese area and then Massa Lombarda, Bagnara di Romagna and Sant’Agata sul Santerno. The storm then spread towards the eastern and northern sectors, also hitting the areas of Lugo, Fusignano, Bagnacavallo and Conselice, but weaker rainfall also hit other areas of the Ravenna area.

The first drops arrived in the province around 3pm and then persisted, even with a certain vehemence, in the following hours with also episodes of hail. Around 5.30pm the Municipality of Bagnara itself warned citizens to “be very careful”: in fact, due to the very intense rain, flooding would have occurred in via Fossette, via Giuliana and via Truppatello. The Civil Protection of Bagnara is on the field and they are also sending aid from Lower Romagna, the Municipality explains.
