A bus with 20 passengers on board fell from the Potseluev Bridge and sank into the river Moika to St.Pietroburgo, in Russia, after skidding. At least seven confirmed victims, with the driver of the vehicle arrested.
Bus skids and falls into river
The accident occurred on Friday 10 May 2024 in St. Petersburg. Images of what happened near the Moika river are circulating on the web, with the vehicle entering the video frame showing the moments before the fall into the water.
The testimony, possible thanks to some surveillance cameras, allows us to reconstruct the dynamics. The bus, which arrived at high speed, suddenly turned and for reasons yet to be ascertained, hit two other cars in the opposite lane.

Seven dead, several seriously injured
They were the ones who got the worst of it seven passengers, killed in the bus accident. According to Russian agencies, rescuers recovered nine people from the sunken bus.
Of these, three were declared dead on the spot, while another four were considered clinically dead and subsequently died in hospital. Two people, however, are in serious condition.
The driver was arrested
Meanwhile, the driver of the bus that fell into the Moika river has been arrested. This is a driver for a well-known local bus company, a company that has already been fined 23 times for various driving violations.
The driver’s wife, quoted by the Russian media, pointed the finger at the managers of the private company accused of having forced her husband to work the morning shift after working for 20 consecutive hours the day before.
An investigation has been opened into the accident and the causes that led the bus to go off the road and end up in the water.
