TERAMO. The Giro d’Italia is ready to land in Abruzzo. Saturday sees the arrival of the eighth stage at Prati di Tivo starting from Spoleto (152 kilometres). In these hours, in the areas affected by the passage of the race, the organizational phases are being completed to welcome the pink caravan in the best possible way.
To facilitate the inflow and outflow of people, 15 free shuttle buses are available (reservations recommended but not mandatory). The vehicles leave from the area near the Pigliacelli stadium in Montorio al Vomano between 8 and 11.30.
The first bus stop is at the Map square in Pietracamela, for those who prefer to continue on foot and proceed along the approximately six kilometers of climb that lead to the finish line, while the second stop is at the crossroads of the Prati bassi di Prati di Tivo near the ‘hotel Miramonti. According to the indications of the Police Headquarters, access to cars is allowed until 9.30 from the crossroads in Ponte Arno, on state road 80, and it is possible to park in the following areas: after the first 2-300 meters from the beginning of the road to Cima Alta from Prati di Tivo square up to the lake; in the section of the ring road from the Prati di Tivo hotel to the Miramonti hotel; in the car park of the church of San Leucio in Pietracamela; along the variant from the Ferrocemento crossroads up to approximately 200 meters from the Map area crossroads; along the road that leads from the Intermesoli crossroads to Fano Adriano.
If available parking spaces run out quickly, traffic will be blocked before 9.30 am. Amateur cyclists, however, will be able to travel in small groups until 11.30 am. To allow viewing of the stage, the Municipality of Pietracamela will install three large screens at the Intermesoli crossroads (refreshment point), in Piazza degli Eroi in Pietracamela and in the Piazzale dei Map just outside Pietracamela (another refreshment point). The return by bus is expected around 7pm because priority in the outflow belongs to all vehicles following the Giro. The president of the Province Camillo D’Angelo, the vice mayor of Montorio Mariangela Cortellini, the president of the Gal Gran Sasso-Laga Carlo Matone, the councilor of the Municipality of Pietracamela Salvatore, spoke at the press conference yesterday to give useful information for the stage. Florimbi, the Gal consultant for sporting events Luigi Di Giosia and (in video link) the RCS Sport contact for Abruzzo Maurizio Formichetti. Among the collateral events tomorrow, in Pietracamela, there is the concert by Setak (6pm), guitarist and singer-songwriter originally from Penne, while on Saturday, in Montorio (where the stopover area for journalists will be set up inside the Zoccolanti convent ), the party for the promotion to Excellence of the local football team will be staged from 7pm.
