Flood on Rio Grande do Sul, Veneto launches fundraising

Even the Pope close to the drama of the “Brazilian Veneto”: in the state 40% are “Italians”

“The natural disaster that struck Rio Grande do Sul it has deeply touched our hearts: to date there have been almost a hundred deaths, as many missing and injured, a thousand requests for help and the displaced have exceeded hundreds of thousands. The situation is truly dramatic and the images that we have all seen tell of a land struck tragically. To express our closeness and give concrete support to the South American community, we have opened a solidarity current account whose proceeds will go to those who have lost everything and have been affected by the devastation of recent days”.

Thus the President of the Region Luca Zaia announces the activation of a dedicated current account to raise funds for residents in the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) through local institutions and associations, called “VENETO REGION FLOOD EMERGENCY SUPPORT RIO GRANDE DO SUL with IBAN: IT 35 A 02008 02017 000107108523”.

“Veneto is extremely linked to this land, in which resides a large and rooted community of descendants of Venetian migrants, in particular from from the provinces of Belluno, Vicenza, Treviso and Verona and with whom we have also been close for at least twenty years international economic relations – continues the Governor -. The feeling that unites us is strong and knowing that entire families are now without food, drinking water and electricity since April 27th has triggered the chain of solidarity. This first intervention, in addition to symbolically reducing distances, intends to concretely demonstrate the affection we feel towards everyone and the Venetians who have been residing in the South American state for years.”
