Fire in Bolzano: electric car charging station factory on fire

The first smoke warnings arrived on the morning of May 8th around 9 am, subsequently the flames spread to Bolzano, in the Piani artisan area, in a building currently being renovated at the headquarters of Alpitronic, manufacturer of charging stations for electric cars. For the moment there are no injuries or victims but it happened airspace over the city closed. The firefighters and the Provincial Agency for the Environment and Climate Protection were on site, busy taking samples as a precaution to check for the presence of any residues. “Due to the current weather conditions, the smoke cloud is rising vertically and therefore does not represent an immediate danger,” informs the autonomous province. In any case, the South Tyrolean Municipality recommends closing doors and windows and not using air conditioning and ventilation systems.

THE DEVELOPMENTS

“As far as air pollution is concerned, no hazardous substances were involved.” This was stated by the president of the autonomous province of Bolzano and also responsible for civil protection Arno Kompatscher, following the suspended particulate analysis operations underway since the morning of the fire. “The work is now concentrated on protecting the parts of the plant not affected by the fire and also on extinguishing the outbreaks.”
