We receive the words of our reader Antonella:

“Good morning, I ask to be able to share my outburst through you. I’m really stunned…

On Monday we went with my mother to the Cup hospital in Cosenza to book an ‘urgent coronary scan’. Too bad there wasn’t room immediately, so we were advised that (hear, hear):

«The only way to have a date available to book is to return in 60 days, then let this medical prescription expire (memory, on which it is specified ‘urgently’…!) with a new medical prescription, always marked ‘urgent’ and valid for another 60 days, to see IF (!!!) with this new one we then find a PLACE IN 2027» …

Simply SPEECHLESS…!!! Practically, if someone dies in the meantime, they can take the coffin directly to have their heart examined… Are we on Scherzi a Parte???

I would also add that I cited the law, that if due to lack of bookable places I should be able to go for the visit in a private facility, and you public health have the obligation to reimburse me for the expenses, but also on this issue I only received ‘ shrugs…! (Yes, because as a private person the visit costs €260…!)

This is to report yet another case of medical malpractice… I don’t know where we’ll end up. Maybe by reporting all these absurd cases… and doing a lot of numbers, we will be able to get some answers from the Calabrian healthcare system.

We certainly won’t be able to move forward like this. Needless to say, we will turn to private individuals… rather than wait for death. Because here there is only this to do.

Thanks and sorry for the outburst…”

(Antonella)
