FIRST MEETING FOR THE START OF THE TRANSFER OF FUNCTIONS FROM THE CALABRIA REGION TO THE METROCITY – Eco della Locride

The mayor of the Metropolitan City Giuseppe Falcomatà met today in the regional citadel “Jole Santelli” of Catanzaro the vice president of the Regional Council Giusy Princi. At the center of the discussion, which has been planned for some time, are the guidelines on the start of the transfer to the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria of the functions provided for by Law 56 of 2014.

During the meeting, which was also attended by top representatives of the bureaucratic apparatus of the Metropolitan City and the Calabria Region, the process was established in stages which will lead, by the end of 2024, to the regional law for the transfer of delegations, and at the same time identified a timetable of meetings and policy and coordination tables between the political and administrative representatives of the two bodies, for the necessary specific insights into the sectors subject to the transfer of competence.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the mayor appreciated the concrete approach with which the table was activated, underlining the positive political direction which, despite the delay accumulated in the past, has characterized the dialogue with the leaders of the Region in recent weeks.

The hope declared by the highest representative of Palazzo Alvaro is to quickly achieve full ownership of the functions required by law, while respecting the necessary technical investigations by the various sectors, in particular with regard to the transfer of human resources and financial ones that allow correct management of the assigned functions.

To date, Calabria is the only Italian region not to have activated the transfer process of the functions envisaged by the Delrio law of 2014. The common hope is that the accumulated delay can turn into an opportunity, allowing Calabria to determine itself with a Draft Law that also takes into account the results achieved or the difficulties encountered by the transfer of functions to other Regions and to the other Metropolitan Cities of Italy.
