After an escape attempt by Pippo Gannaalso a gold medalist in the quartet in Japan together with Francesco Lamon and Simone Consonni, had gone up in smoke right on the final straight, Milan preceded Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deceuninck) and Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain-Victorious).

“I’m very excited, just like when I won for the first time a year ago. Furthermore, my family was here to see me at the finish line.” Jonathan Milan is beaming after the sprint victory in the fourth stage of the Giro d’Italia. “My national track teammate Filippo Ganna gave us a hard time, but the work done by the team, with a superlative Simone Consonni, leaves me speechless” added the Friulian sprinter.

Tomorrow the Giro will start again from Genoa and arrive in Tuscany, in the fifth stage starting from the Ligurian capital and arriving in Lucca after 178 km.
