tribute to the poet Wislawa Szymborska

On 9, 10 and 11 May, at 9pm, the show “On death without exaggerating”, created and directed by Riccardo Pippa with the Teatro dei Gordi company, will be staged at the Piccolo Teatro della Città.

“On death without exaggeration”, we read in the show’s presentation note, is a tribute to the Polish poet Wislawa Szymborska. Conceived and directed by director Riccardo Pippa, the show addresses the theme of death in an ironic and fun way through an unconventional use of contemporary masks. On the threshold between the here and the afterlife, where souls take their final leave from bodies, there is our Death. The living fear it, flee it, deny it, seek it, challenge it, invoke it. The only certainty is death, they say. But how many delays in her work, how many unforeseen events, clumsy attempts, missed shots and souls sent back to the sender! And then what does Death, who is immortal, know about what it means to die?

Created for the Napoli Teatro Festival 2020, this new staging has made the show more contemporary, which inevitably takes into account what is happening to us. We return to stage work starting from a wound, after a quarantine that denied those who were leaving the comfort of a visit and those who remained, sharing in the presence of mourning.

The Teatro dei Gordi company will be the guest of the last appointment of RetroScena, a series of meetings on the shows on stage at the Brancati and the Piccolo, which will be held on Thursday 9 May at 11 am, at the CUT – Centro Universitario Teatrale, in Piazza Università. The teacher Simona Scattina will lead the meeting.

Tickets available at the Brancati Theater box office, in via Ciccaglione 29. Info: 095530153 – 3345683715
